Bahubali 3, the next project with or without the same name is on the cards as producer Shobu Yarlagadda and director SS Rajamouli are exploring a new story and planning a think-tank sort of discussions similar to Hollywood franchises.

The first inidcations of another project came when Bahubali 2 or “Bahubali: The Conclusion” made Rs.1,000 crore in a lightning speed unprecedented in the industry. With huge potential to make another Rs.500 crore in the near future, the boost it gives to producers and the director is anybody’s guess.

Though Baahubali director SS Rajamouli rejected any idea of making Baahubali 3, Shobhu Yarlagadda was positive about it if a good script is there. “We may make Baahubali 3 if we get a right script,” he told recently.
On his part, Rajamouli tweeted from London after UK promotional event that it is wraps up for Bahubali franchise but not for his next venture which may have Bahubali links to proceed. Being a fiction, Bahubali storyline gives immense scope for any extrapolation that Rajamouli and his father Vijayendra Prsad may not be averse to.
Now that Karan Johar is behind the third project solidly and financially, it may take the shape of being a Hindi original film with Telugu and Tamil versions being rolled out later. Moreover, Karan Johar has promised to re-introduce Prabhas in a Hindi film soon and the project described as “solid financially and creatively lucrative offer” is very much on the cards, said a report in Bollywood Hungama.
The problem zone is of dates for both Prabhas and Rajamouli, who have comitments already. Prabhas is likely to be busy for his upcoming film ‘Saho’ next year while Rajamouli is beset with a past commitment made to Telugu producer D V Danayya.
So, Bahubali 3 project, if ever conceived, will have Hollywood like ambience with professional writers coming out with storyline and script while the director will depend on technical add-ons with top actors playing to the audience. The trio of Karan Johar, Yrlagadda, Rajamouli fixed, it remains to be seen whether Prabhas will return or not.
Otherwise, another top Telugu actor Mahesh Babu is likely to be the first pick of Rajamouli, if Prabhas is reluctant. But then, it will be director and story-centric film than hero-centric one, which Mahesh Babu has to accept.
we need to see more of Tamanna’s character Avanthika in Bahubali 3, because we didn’t see enough of her in Bahubali 2. I was thinking about the fact that Tamanna’s onscreen presence had a dual nature - she portrayed a heavenly vision which led Mahendra Bahubali to climb up the mountain, and then she also played the jungle rebel Avanthika - to me, it seemed like she could have been some kind of celestial being who later took human form as Avanthika the rebel. You know how it is in mythology - the gods are observing events on Earth from above, and sometimes they send down one or more of their own to influence events on Earth. So I was thinking that maybe the gods sent Tamanna to nudge Mahendra Bahubali to cross the mountains to Mahishmati kingdom, and then she later takes a more grubby mortal form as Avanthika to help him more directly in battle. So that then opens the future possibility that Tamanna/Avanthika may have to leave Mahendra, because she’s being recalled by the gods after her job is done.
Nextly, there’s the issue of what happened to Devasena while she was in Bhallaladeva’s custody for 25 years. Suppose there are some nasty people still around (Bijjala) who start spreading nasty rumors questioning whether Devasena stayed faithful and true while she was in Bhallaladeva’s custody all that time. As a result, Devasena gets exiled Sita-style and maybe Avanthika goes with her, changing from Mahendra’s beautiful queen back into grubby jungle rebel clothes. Suppose all this stuff happens while Mahendra Bahubali’s off fighting another war with trusty Uncle Katappa (the only one who could properly testify that Devasena was indeed faithful and true). Mahendra and Katappa come back from the battle to find out what’s happened, and they have to regain control of Mahishmati kingdom. Then Katappa has to go retrieve Devasena & Avanthika, just like Hanuman had to retrieve Sita/Lav/Kush. At the very final climax of the movie, we get some kind of Agni Pariksha scene where Devasena proves her virtue in front of everyone - and once she does so, Avanthika immediately transforms into her “heavenly vision” form again, and takes Devasena away with her - all of this happens in front of the wide-eyed Mahendra Bahubali, who sees his precious wife and mother disappear for good.
After that, Mahendra’s only loved ones are his adoptive parents from his village, so he renounces his kingdom of Mahismathi, puts on his village clothes again, and goes back to his original village where he was brought up. Once there, he prays at the same Shiva lingam that he first placed under the falls. Then he starts climbing again… as a small blue butterfly flutters above him.
Yes Yes and Yes there will be a Bahubali 3, though it will not be the third part of this super successful franchise. But still the audience will get to see a version of it. This is what SS Rajamouli, the director said in the recent interview.

There won't be a Baahubali part 3. When you are talking about the continuation of Baahubali, actually there are several back-stories that are associated with it which will later take precedence. These may appear in the form of animation series, comic books, virtual reality shows etc, and hence the world of Baahubali will continue.
So if we look at this, what essentially he is saying is that there is possibility of prequels, spin-offs along with animation series, comic books, virtual reality shows etc.
In what can be called as a sensational revelation KV Vijayendra Prasad, well-known writer and father of SS Rajamouli said that both Prabhas and Sathyaraj, who stole the show as Kattappa may not be part of the third installment.
